Shootouts and One-Goal Thrillers Highlight Ice Division Weekend in Detroit

The MIHA Ice Division took the ice in Detroit this weekend for nine games, Saturday and Sunday, at Taylor Sportsplex and Kennedy Ice Arena. Five teams were in action: the Detroit Dawgs, Detroit Rejects, Taylor Wild, Chicago Damage and Michigan Mad Dogs. Close finishes set the tone all weekend.

The Detroit Dawgs and Detroit Rejects each finished the weekend at 3-1. The Dawgs closed out Sunday with an 8-3 win over the Rejects at Kennedy Ice Arena. The Rejects had plenty of big moments of their own, including Saturday evening's 8-3 win over the Mad Dogs and a 5-3 Sunday morning victory over Chicago.

The Taylor Wild went 2-1 on the weekend. They edged Chicago 5-4 on Saturday morning and followed it with a 4-1 win over the Dawgs that evening. On Sunday morning, the Wild and Dawgs went back and forth in the wildest game of the weekend, and Detroit came out on top 10-8.

The Chicago Damage were part of several of the weekend's tightest games. They battled the Rejects to a 4-4 tie through regulation before falling 5-4 in a shootout. Later Saturday night they held off a strong push from the Michigan Mad Dogs for an 8-7 win, with the Mad Dogs fighting to the very end.

Thanks to all five teams, the officials and the rink staff for a great weekend of Ice Division hockey. See everyone at the next event!
